3 Reasons Why Praying For Someone Else is Awesome

I know I should have posted this way earlier, but I kind of just got internet access. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, click! So yes, it’s a Mad Monday!!!! Which explains the picture below:

I know this may seem very unlikely to be in the category of Mad things to do, but let me ask you, when was the last time you actually focused on solely praying for another person at one time? It may not be as exciting or even extraordinary, but it is most definitely fulfilling and spirit filled.

Let me give you 3 reasons why praying for someone else is awesome:

1.  It allows you to love more.

More of Him + More of others + less of me = LOVE.

Try focusing on one person. Think about him/her. Think of how amazing this person is. Now, reflect on what you think his/her concerns are. Put yourself in the person’s shoes. What is she/he going through right now? Empathize and pray. That simple thing you just did made you more aware of that particular person. This awareness paves way for more love from God, through you, to that person.

2. It deepens your relationship with Him.

I see it as dating someone who is passionate about the same thing as you. That just feels great, right? You finally have someone you can talk to who shares the same interest. It automatically brings a relationship to a deeper level. I bet Jesus feels the same way when you pray for someone else. He is passionate about every single person alive in this universe, and so should you.

3. It changes you.

Again, this has a lot to do with Empathy. I think interceding (praying for others) opens up your eyes to see how other people may really be feeling inside. It makes you think twice about saying or doing something bad to a person. Also, it gives you growth. Sure, thank God for your blessings. Ask forgiveness for your sins. Ask God to make your dreams come true. That’s easy because it’s all about you. Prayer that revolves around someone else is different. It’s a gift. It’s a blessing. I think it is one of God’s ways of helping us become who he has destined us to be.

Try it. You don’t have anything to lose.
